9 Tula Skincare Products That Are Worth The Hype

Hello loves! Ever since I tried out my first product from Tula in 2019, the brand has been apart of both my morning and nighttime skincare routines. I thought it would be helpful to create a guide detailing all the Tula products that I use daily - these are the products that I cannot live without. Since the brand has so many different products, it can be hard to navigate the website if you do not know which products might be the best fit for you. In this post I have compiled a list of 9 Tula products that are my absolute favorites. As always with any skincare, what works for me might not work for you. For reference, I have oily/combo acne prone sensitive skin - so if you have a similar skin type these are the Tula products I recommend.

Yes - I do have a discount code with Tula where I do make commission when the code is used. Like I mentioned above I first tried Tula in 2019, but I did not receive the discount code until April 2020 - I have purchased many Tula products with my own money. As always, I appreciate you shopping with my codes and via my affiliate links, so if you want to save 15% off your Tula order use code THECHANCHIC at checkout. To be directed to the Tula site click on any of the product pictures or pink links in this post. I hope you find this guide helpful!

Oil Free Gel Cream

This was the very first Tula product I ever tried and it has been a staple in my skincare routine since 2019. This retails for $48 ($40 with my code) - it’s 100% worth it. If you have oily skin, this is the moisturizer for you since it is oil free. It’s lightweight, but that doesn’t mean it’s incredibly hydrating. I use this as my morning moisturizer since it is lightweight. Add this to your routine if you’re looking for a drink of water for your skin.

24/7 Moisture Day and Night Cream

If your skin is more on the dry side, this is the moisturizer for you. I use this at night year round, but in the winter when I tend to get dry patches due to the brutal NYC winter weather I will use it both morning and night. This is heavier than the gel cream, yet it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. The cream is nourishing, yet doesn’t clog the pores and is gentle enough to use both day and night. For reference, the oil free gel cream is on my hand on the left side, and the 24/7 day and night cream is on the right side.

Filter Primer

This primer is truly like a filter for the skin. It is a great base for makeup, but also is perfect to use on its own on no makeup days to smooth the skin’s texture and add a slight tint. It’s free from mineral oil, and fragrance, and adds a beautiful glow to the skin. I use the shade Sunrise (which is the original shade the primer was available in before Tula launched additional shades). I use this almost every single day (makeup or not) and haven’t found another primer I enjoy as much as this one.

Rose Eye Balm

This might be the most talked about Tula product on social media. I love the convenience of the product being in stick form and the balm does exactly what it claims it will do - it cools and brightens the under eye area. My favorite way to use this product is on days when I’m not wearing face makeup in combination with the primer to add a bit of glow to my under eyes. Out of all 3 of the eye balms Tula sells the pink one is my favorite; the rose tint is the most flattering under the eyes.

Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel

Not only does this product treat zits and prevent new ones, it does an amazing job at correcting acne scars. At $36 ($30 with my code) this product is a great value and does a lot more for my acne than some prescription creams and gels did. Recently I didn’t have a new bottle for about a month and a half, and I definitely noticed a difference in my skin. The key ingredients are salicylic acid and niacinamide which work great together to prevent breakouts, fade the look of acne scars, and brighten up the complexion. I use this product in the morning after cleanser, but before my vitamin C serum.

Pro-Glycolic Toner

I added glycolic acid to my routine almost 2 years ago, and my skin responds really well to it. I love this toner because it has 10% glycolic acid, it’s an easy to use, lightweight, gel formula. Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, treats acne scars, and combats early signs of aging. This toner is gentle enough to use twice a day, but I prefer to only use it at night since I use the acne clearing gel in the morning.

Brightening Treatment Drops Triple Vitamin C Serum

This vitamin C serum has been a staple in my morning skincare routine since the beginning of 2021. The first thing I noticed that differentiates this vitamin c serum from others is the packaging. It’s not a traditional dropper, but rather the cap has a button on the top that when pushed allows you to get the product into the dropper. I use this product every morning and I have definitely seen a difference in my skin; it helps to make the skin not appear dull. Plus, it’s oil and fragrance free which makes it perfect for sensitive skin. I cannot recommend this product enough if you’re looking for a new vitamin C serum.

Protect + Glow Sunscreen

Due to my sensitive skin, I have a hard time finding a sunscreen that doesn’t break me out. Not only does this product NOT cause me to break me out, but it doesn’t have a sunscreen smell OR a white cast; you can definitely incorporate this sunscreen into your daily routine. It’s SPF 30 and a lightweight gel formula so it won’t clog your pores. I reserve this sunscreen for no makeup days and days that I will be in the sun for an extended period of time (like laying by the pool), while I use the mineral magic sunscreen on a daily basis.

Mineral Magic

This is my everyday SPF. Since it is a mineral formula, it is incredibly lightweight and layers seamlessly under the face filter primer. Like the protect and glow, it is also SPF 30, but it is a mineral sunscreen while protect and glow is a chemical sunscreen (more on the difference between the types of sunscreens HERE). Although the product does come out peachy, this product is not tinted and instantly blends into the skin. If you’re looking for an easy and lightweight SPF to add to your daily routine, I highly recommend this one! Below I have the mineral magic on the left side and protect + glow on the right so you can see the difference between the two.

Sephora Spring Sale 2021 Picks

Hello loves! It’s that time of year again - Sephora sale time that is. From now until 4/19 save $$$ at Sephora with code OMGSPRING at checkout. The discount depends on your Sephora beauty insider status - you can find the breakdowns HERE. I’ve put together an edit of my top products from Sephora that I think are worth purchasing during the sale. I’ve broken it down into 3 categories - skincare, hair, and makeup. If you want to shop any of the products simply click the image or the bold links below. Happy shopping!

Kate Somerville Eradikate Cleanser

My go to cleanser! I’ve spoken about this cleanser so many times I sound like a broken record. The key ingredient in this cleanser is sulfur - which is amazing for treating my acne. This cleanser is 100% worth the money - there’s a reason I’ve been using it since 2018. I can’t even count how many of these I’ve bought over the years, so I will be stocking up during the sale!

Kate Somervile Eradikate Spot Treatment

This is the only spot treatment I ever use. Like the cleanser, the key ingredient is sulfur (it’s formulated with 10% sulfur), which my skin reacts really well to. You simply apply this treatment with a q-tip and leave it on over night and rinse it off in the morning. If you haven’t found a spot treatment that works for you yet, I definitely recommended trying out this sulfur based one.

Olaplex Shampoo and Conditioner

I have been using this duo since February 2020 and at first I didn’t know if it was worth it, but then I went and got my hair done in the salon and my stylist and colorist both commented on how healthy my hair was so I continued to use it. I love that it conditions my hair without leaving my roots greasy and it’s formulated with clean ingredients so it’s color safe. I use it every other wash to not overdo it. I definitely recommend it if you have damaged hair!

IGK Leave In Blonde Toning Drops

These drops are ESSENTIAL in keeping my blonde balayage from not looking brassy in between color appointments. My favorite was to use this is to mix in a few drops with a leave in conditioner. I also saw that they launched brunette drops so check those out if you color your hair darker.

DryBar Triple Sec Spray

I use this texturing spray every time I heat style my hair. This product helps to give the hair bounce and a more messy yet put together look - plus it smells amazing. This spray also helps to extend my blowout which results in me washing my hair less which is amazing.

Olaplex Hair Perfector

A couple months ago I finally added this to my Olaplex routine and I am super impressed with the results. I try and use this mask once a week and my hair feels so refreshed after doing so. This mask isn’t a leave in treatment - you apply it to damp hair BEFORE you shampoo and condition. This product strengthens damaged hair, so I love to use it when my hair feels like it needs some extra love.

Tarte Surfer Curl Mascara

My number 1 makeup discovery of 2020! This mascara provides the perfect combination of volume and length and doesn’t flake or smudge throughout the day. It’s also vegan and cruelty free and is easy to remove (I hate when mascara will not come off at the end of the day).

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick

This lipstick shade 100% lives up to the hype. It’s the perfect ‘your lips but better’ shade. The formula is super pigmented and even though it’s matte it does not dry out the lips. This is an expensive lip product so I love this mini kit that also allows you to try the lip liner (which is also amazing).

Rare Beauty Liquid Blush

This is the first liquid blush I’ve ever tried and it’s amazing. It’s extremely pigmented and dries down to the most beautiful natural finish. A little goes a long way with this product so this is going to last me forever. I have the color bliss which is a stunning pink shade, but I would love to try other shades in the future.

Benefit Gimme Brow

It doesn’t matter if I’m only using a couple products on a light makeup day or doing full glam - I will for sure be using this product. It’s a tinted brow gel with little fibers in the formula that help to enhance and add volume to the brows. I love that this can be used on it’s own for an easy natural look or it can be applied over brow pencil to lock everything into place.

Laura Mercier Setting Powder

This has been my go to setting powder for over two years. It sets your makeup in place and keeps oil at bay. I use the translucent one, and a little goes a long way (one full size lasts me over a year). This is another one of those cult favorite beauty products and for a good reason.

What will you be buying from the sale? Happy shopping!

The Best of Beauty 2020

Hello loves! I like to end each year by recapping my favorite products from that year. Even though 2020 was a wild ride, I still discovered new beauty products that I’m obsessed with, and continued to fall in love with products that I discovered at the end of last year (you can read my best of 2019 beauty HERE). Keep on reading to see what products I absolutely adored this year, and stay tuned for my best of 2020 fashion and lifestyle posts.

IMG_0322.JPG

Hair

Fanola No Yellow Shampoo

I purchased this per y’all’s recommendations on Instagram and it did not disappoint! This is a super saturated purple shampoo that is only $13. This product definitely helps to keep my blonde bright. I use it every other time I wash my hair to prevent my highlights from getting brassy. If you are blonde and in the market for a new purple shampoo I cannot recommend this enough.

Olaplex Shampoo and Conditioner

When I am not using my purple shampoo, this is what I use. I have recently started to use the Hair Perfector Treatment as well, but since I have only used it a few times it’s not a favorite yet, but I will continue to update you on how I like it.

Hairatage Ahead of the Curl Cream

This has been my go-to curl cream this year when I let my hair dry naturally. I love it because it’s free of sulfates so it’s color safe, and it holds a curl without leaving the hair crunchy. It’s also only $7 - the best curly hair product I’ve ever tried in that price range.

Curlsmith Ultimate Lengths 30 Day Therapy

This year my little bald spots that are evident when my hair is pulled up into a ponytail really started to bother me, so I decided to start taking these vitamins and they have made a HUGE difference. I am about to finish up my third month and the new hair growth I have around my face is significant. These vitamins are formulated with keratin, collagen, biotin, and more and promote healthier and thicker hair. The brand recommends that you take them for at least 3 months, but I started noticing improvements after just 2 months. I am going to continue to take these in the new year since I have been so happy with the results.

Skincare

Tula Face Filter Primer

I believe I first tried this product at the end of 2019, but ti truly became a staple in my skincare/makeup routine in 2020. I’ve talked about this product a million times on my Instagram, but it seriously makes it look like you have a blurred filter on your face. I like wearing it under makeup, or on its own with the Tula eye balm when I want a fresh face look. Make sure to use code THECHANCHIC at checkout to receive 15% off your Tula purchase.

Tula Rose Eye Balm

Out fo the 3 eye balms Tula sells, this is my favorite. It’s formulated with rose hip oil and has the slightest pink tint. I like to use this on my no makeup days to brighten my under eye area. It also leaves a cooling sensation, which is super refreshing.

Tula 24/7 Day and Night Cream

I first started using this regularly at the very end of 2019, and have continued to use it every night this year. During my first NYC winter I struggled with dry patches more than I ever had living in Texas. I began using this at nighttime and haven’t stopped even when the weather warmed up. It’s not too thick for my combo/oily skin, but it is such a hydrating moisturizer. If you have dry skin you can definitely use this cream twice a day and it will not be too thick or pore clogging.

Versed Just Breathe Clarifying Serum

2020 was the first time I ever tried Versed Skincare, and it’s now a staple in my routine. You can read my full post about Versed HERE. This is a great serum for acne prone skin. The ingredients in this serum target acne, excess oil, and inflammation. I think this serum has done a great job at keeping my acne at bay and recommend if you’re struggling with problematic skin.

Lancer Skincare Clarifying Detox Mask

I discovered this mask back in the spring and it’s been my go-to mask ever since. Sulfur is the ingredient that my skin reacts best to in terms of treating and preventing acne (I have a full blog post about my favorite sulfur based skincare products HERE). This mask is also formulated with green tea, which is great at combatting redness, something that is frequently associated with acne. I try to use this at least once a week and when I’m using it consistently I can definitely see a positive difference in my acne.

Makeup

Tarte Surfer Curl Mascara

My number 1 makeup discovery of the year! This mascara provides the perfect combination of volume and length and doesn’t flake or smudge throughout the day. It’s also vegan and cruelty free and is easy to remove (I hate when mascara will not come off at the end of the day). PSA - purchase it from the pink link above because you will get two tubes for $29 (one tube retails for $23).

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Even though I haven’t been wearing foundation that much this year, I made the switch to this one after getting a sample of it with an online Sephora order. This foundation is oil free (a non-negotiable for me) and has a natural matte finish. Yes it is expensive for a foundation, but my skin looks stunning when I wear this; it’s definitely worth the price tag.

What was your favorite beauty discovery of 2020? I would love to hear!

The set includes a full size of the original lip mask in the berry scent, and travel sizes of the lemon sorbet and mint chocolate scents. The full size alone retails for $22, so this set at $29 (plus discount!) is a deal.

This set is more affordable at $19 and includes the full size glowy lip balm and a travel size of the lip sleeping mask. The balm is super conditioning and shiny so it’s perfect to use in the day time to add shine while conditioning the lips. Both of these products are in the classic berry scent.

This set is an AMAZING deal: 5 full size brow products for $49 (a $120 value - and you can save more if purchased during the sale). I use the precisely my brow pencil and the gimme brow daily, and I have sampled other Benefit brow products in the past and they’re simply the best. If you want to step up your brow game (or if you have a brow junkie in your life) this set is a must.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Set

This cult classic lip color has been on my list of things I’ve been wanting to try for a while. This set is a $71 value for $45. The set includes a full size pillow talk lipstick, and mini versions of the pillow talk lip liner, lip gloss, and lip bath. I will definitely be purchasing this for myself, but it will also make a great gift this holiday season.

Lancer Clarifying Detox Mask

This has been my favorite face mask of 2020. A little goes a long way with this one, so it’s 100% worth the price. It’s formulated with sulfur, my favorite acne fighting ingredient, and green tea which combats redness. I use this a few times a week and it definitely helps to treat breakouts and prevent future ones.

Laura Mercier Setting Powder

This has been my go to setting powder for over two years. It sets your makeup in place and keeps oil at bay. I use the translucent one, and a little goes a long way (one full size lasts me over a year). This is another one of those cult favorite beauty products and for a good reason.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

This product is key in keeping my makeup in place all day. I’ve been using these for years and it has never made me break out, which is key. If you’re struggling to keep your makeup on all day I recommend this spray.

IGK Leave In Blonde Toning Drops

These drops are ESSENTIAL in keeping my blonde balayage from not looking brassy in between color appointments. I talk about this product in my hair care routine post and I how I incorporate it into my routine. My favorite was to use this is to mix in a few drops with a leave in conditioner. I also saw that they launched brunette drops so check those out if you color your hair darker.

Kate Somerville EradiKate Cleanser

My go to cleanser! I’ve spoken about this cleanser so many times I sound like a broken record. This cleanser has done an amazing job at treating my acne and it’s definitely worth the money. I can’t even count how many of these I’ve bought over the years, so I will be stocking up during the sale!

Olaplex Gift Set

The Olaplex shampoo and conditioner has been my go to since February. I think this combo has really helped with my hair health this year. I have been wanting to try to other treatment products from Olaplex and this set is a great deal if you’ve been wanting to try out the treatments and shampoo and conditioner. This would also make a great gift for the hair lover in your life this holiday season!

Sephora Holiday Lip Set

The Sephora favorites are always a hit during the holiday gifting season, and for a $124 value for $45 this is an amazing deal. There are 3 full size products in this set and and 5 minis. There are nudes and reds, which are my two favorites hues to wear.

Rare Beauty Mini Blush and Lip Set

I purchased the exact liquid blush that is included in this set and I absolutely love it. A little goes a long way with this blush so the mini size is plenty. For $15 this is a great way to test out the Rare Beauty brand! This would also make a great stocking stuffer this Christmas.

Kate Somerville EradiKate Spot Treatment

I don’t even know how many of these I’ve purchased over the years - it’s my go to spot treatment. It’s formulated with 10% sulfur, which my skin reacts really well to. You simply apply this treatment with a q-tip and leave it on over night and rinse it off in the morning. If you haven’t found a spot treatment that works for you yet, I definitely recommended trying out this sulfur based one.

Let me know what you will be stocking up on during this sale!

My Current Haircare & Styling Routine

Hello loves! It has been a hot minute since I have done a hair post, so I thought it was about time for an update haircare and styling routine post. I have switched up a few products over the last year so in today’s post I am breaking down what products I use, how I use them, and why I love them. This is my routine when I fully heat style my hair, but of course sometimes I just let my hair dry naturally with a little bit of curl cream (this one is my favorite at the moment). I hope this helps you if you’re in the market for some new hair products and have a similar hair type to mine!

IMG_5893.JPG

shampoo and conditioner

Since I highlight my hair, using a shampoo and conditioner that preserves my color while still effectively cleaning my hair is so important. I wash my hair about two times a week, and for shampoo I alternate between the Olaplex Bond Maintenance Shampoo and the Fanola No Yellow Shampoo. I use the Olaplex Bond Maintenance Conditioner in combination with both shampoos. The Olaplex products are great for repairing damaged hair, and are formulated without sulfates. Using a sulfate free shampoo is essential if you color your hair. If you have blonde highlighted hair, I 10/10 recommend the Fanola No Yellow Shampoo. This shampoo is under $15 and is does an AMAZING job at preserving highlights and preventing blonde hair from getting brassy. This is the most pigmented purple shampoo that I’ve ever used and since it is so intense, I only use it every other time I wash my hair. This is the most effective purple shampoo that I’ve tried and the price can’t be beat.

leave in products

After I wash my hair I follow up with the following three products. To detangle my hair and add in moisture I use the Not Your Mother’s Blonde Moment Leave In Conditioner Spray. I also love the It’s a 10 Leave In Spray, but this is the one I am currently using (I am not too picky). The next step has been crucial in keeping my highlights looking bright and not brassy. I use a cream leave in conditioner (I am currently using this one by Neutrogena) and I mix in a couple drops of the IGK Mixed Feelings Leave In Blonde Drops. This is a leave in treatment that tones the hair and prevents brassiness. I have been using this product for a while now and it definitely makes a difference! On a normal day I use 1-2 drops but if I need an extra pick me up I’ll mix in 3-4 drops. This product can be mixed with any conditioner or leave in treatment. If you bleach your hair you need to add this to your hair routine.

styling tools

I don’t heat style my hair every time I wash it, but when I do, these tools are my go-to. Most nights I sleep with my hair wet, but if I have time and want to ensure an extra smooth style in the morning, I will dry my hair with my Hot Tools Dryer Brush before going to bed. I have found that the most effective way to use this tool is to let my hair air dry 80%, then I will go in with the dryer brush. In the morning whether I have blow dried the night before or not, I will curl my hair with the DryBar 3-Day Bender Iron. I have had this iron for 3 years now and it is in amazing condition. I love how it allows me to quickly achieve natural looking waves. If you decided to purchase this curling iron, just beware that it has a rotating barrel so there is a bit of a learning curve when first using, but once you figure it out you won’t go back to another iron!

styling products

These are my favorite products for finishing off a style. Immediately after curling I will go in with the DryBar Triple Sec Spray to add texture and give the curls a more natural look. To smooth frizz I add a bit of the Verb Ghost Oil. I finish everything off with the L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray. I love this hairspray because it locks everything in place while not letting the hair get crunchy. It Is also super easy to brush out the spray if necessary.

What is your current favorite hair product? I’ll be sure and post an update if I change my routine again!

Is Versed Skincare Worth the Hype? | Ranking + Reviewing 10 Products from Versed Skincare

Hello loves! Y’all know I love trying out new skincare products and letting you know what the best of the best are. Ever since April, I have been testing out products from the skincare line Versed. Versed is an affordable skincare line that is vegan, cruelty free, formulated without nasty ingredients (such as mineral oil, artificial fragrance and colors, and paragons) and comes in sustainable packaging. The full Versed range is available on the brand’s website, and certain products are available in store and online at Target. I have tried 10 products from the brand: 5 of which I purchased myself, and 5 of which were graciously sent to me from the Versed team. In today’s post I’ve listed all 10 products from my favorite to least favorite and broken down the details of the product. I hope this gives you more insight to the brand and I would love if you let me know if you plan on trying any of these Versed products.

versed skincare.jpg

The Shortcut Overnight Facial

If you want to wake up with visibly smoother skin - this treatment is for your. The key ingredients in this product are lactic acid and glycolic acid. I wouldn’t recommend this product for those of you with dry skin, because you apply it on dry, cleansed skin with no moisturizer right before bed, and rinse it off in the morning. I try to use this about twice a week and my skin looks smoother and more plump when I wake up.

Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum

I am just now dabbling in retinol, and I did my research and many people were recommending this as the perfect entry level retinol. It’s a low percentage of retinol and it is in cream form, so it is not overly drying. I have only been using this a couple nights a week because I don’t want to overdo it. Retinol has so many benefits including brightening the skin, preventing wrinkles, and regulating oil production (which results in less acne!). I believe in starting preventative skincare young so I am enjoying using this retinol in my regular routine.

Just Breathe Clarifying Serum

This is a great serum for acne prone skin. The ingredients in this serum target acne, excess oil, and inflammation. I have been using this serum at nighttime in conjunction with my Tula Glycolic Acid Toner. I think this serum has done a great job at keeping my acne at bay and recommend if you’re struggling with problematic skin.

Silk Slip Tinted Lip Oil

I’ve been loving this for days when I want some color on the lips, but I don’t want to commit to a full blown lip color. This lip oil is conditioning while adding a glossy tint of color to the lips. I have the shade Ruby and I definitely want to add the other shades to my collection. You can save $ by purchasing the trio kit which includes all 3 shades.

Stroke of Brilliance Brightening Serum

This is a great vitamin C serum that is also formulated with niacinamide and licorice root extract. Like the title says, this serum brightens up the skin. This serum is lightweight and does a great job at brightening the skin. I like to use it in the morning right before I apply moisturizer. There is a slight scent that I don’t care for, but this is a great entry level vitamin C serum at a great price.

Vacation Eyes Brightening Eye Gel

This is a lightweight eye gel that is formulated with amazing brightening ingredients such as vitamin C and niacinamide. Since this eye gel is lightweight, I have enjoyed using it in the morning and following up with a thicker eye cream at night. If you’re just starting to dabble with eye creams, I would recommend this one since it is so lightweight.

Silk Slip Conditioning Lip Oil

This is the clear version of the tinted one I mentioned earlier. While it does offer some moisture to the lips and a glossy finish, I just own other lip balms that are more nourishing than this one. If you’re debating between the clear or tinted oil, I would go with the tinted.

Photos, Please Brightening Tightening Mask

This is a great mask for brightening the complexion and I absolutely love the squeeze tube packaging (it reminds me of the applesauce packets lol). It is formulated with kaolin clay and turmeric extract which work to brighten and tighten the skin. The only reason this isn’t ranked higher is simply because I have masks from other brands that just provide more noticeable results for my skin (like the Lancer mask).

Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm

While this product does remove makeup, I prefer the Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm. This product has a strong scent (which I prefer unscented products) and once rinsed off still left my face feeling like I had a thin layer of product on until I went in with my cleanser.

Found the Light Powder with Vitamin C

Unfortunately this product caused me to break out, so that it why it is at the bottom of my list. This product is a powder that you mix into your moisturizer or serum. I have read that vitamin C powders are more stable than vitamin C serums, but personally I prefer the ease of using of a serum rather than mixing a powder into my moisturizer.

Let me know if you have tried any products from Versed! There are a few more products from the brand that I want to try, and I will definitely add them to this list once I’ve tried them.

Best of Beauty Under $20

Hello loves! It’s been way too long since my last beauty post. Today I thought I would switch it up and share a round up of all of my favorite beauty products under $20. Some of these products I have been using since high school they’re THAT good, but since I am constantly trying new things, I sometimes forget to talk about my tried and true favorites - so that’s exactly what today’s post is. I broke all of the products up into 3 price categories: under $10, $10-$14.99, and $15-20 to make the post easier to read. As always you can click on the images or the pink links to shop the products. Enjoy!

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer $8.99

If you like the Benefit Precisely My Brow pencil, you’ll love this. It’s a super slim eyebrow pencil with a spooky at one end. This products allows you to precisely fill in and shape the brows. This pencil makes it easy to create natural looking brows.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner $8.70

If you’re first getting into glycolic acid, I recommend this toner. It’s easy to apply with a cotton pad and is a great chemical exfoliant. This is pretty strong and can be drying so I would suggest starting with one night a week, and working your way up to using it a few nights a week from there. I found out after a few months of use that this can be too stripping if using every night (which I was doing for a while) so learn for my mistakes and use sparingly.

Versed Tinted Lip Oil $9.99

If you’re looking for a product that offers a small amount of color while also nourishing the lips, this is for you. I have the shade Ruby and I want to add the other shades to my collection. The shine that this product gives off is incredible.

Billie Razor $9

I have been using this razor for almost a year now and it 100% lives up to the hype. The $9 starter kit includes the handle, the magnetic holder that sticks to your shower wall, and two blades (plus free shipping!). Once you make your initial purchase you can decide how often you want replacement blades sent to you based on how often you shave. This razor gives such a smooth shave and is so aesthetically pleasing - plus it’s super convenient to get the blades delivered to your door.

Batiste Beautiful Brunette Dry Shampoo $9.99

I started using this dry shampoo in high school, and I haven’t found anything that beats it for the price. All Batiste shampoos instantly get rid of oil in the hair, but I specifically love the brunette option because the product comes out brown instead of white, making it easier to blend into the roots (they also make a darker one and a blonde option). I go through dry shampoo so fast so having an affordable one is a must, and this is the best I’ve tried.

Dry Brush $8.95

Dry brushing is something I got into during quarantine, and I now understand why so many people love it. Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system and helps to combat dry skin. I followed a few different YouTube tutorials to find out which methods I liked best. For under $10 this tool has so many benefits.

L’Oreal Infalliable Super Slim Liquid Liner $8.99

This liquid liner is pigmented, stays on all day, and is simple to use. This is another product that I’ve been using since high school and I just keep repurchasing it every time I need a new liquid liner. I love that it is in a pen form because I feel like that gives me the most control.

ELF Instant Lift Brow Pencil $2

This is the most affordable thing on this list, and it’s too good for the price! This eyebrow pencil is thicker than the L’Oreal one so it’s not as precise, but it allows you to quickly fill in the brows. I’m shocked at how good it is for only $2.

Fanola No Yellow Purple Shampoo $13.42

I tried this product based on recommendations from Instagram and I understand why so many people suggested it! This shampoo does an amazing job at keeping my blonde highlights bright. It’s super pigmented for a purple shampoo, so I only use it every couple of washes. For the price this can’t be beat.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise $10.99

My favorite mascara from the drugstore! I always end up going back to this one because it’s that good. It gives the lashes the perfect balances of volume and length and does not flake or smudge. What more could you ask for from a mascara?

The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% $12.90

This is a serum formulated with a vitamin C derivative which is perfect for brightening up the skin. It’s gentle enough to use both morning and night (even though I prefer to only use vitamin C in the morning) and I love that it’s unscented. If you’re just getting into vitamin C serums I recommend this one because it’s lightweight and so reasonably priced.

L’Oreal Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Unscented Hairspray $14.99

This is the best hairspray if you like a hold without the crunchy feeling. This hairspray will hold your style in place (I use it every time I curl my hair or wear it up) yet it’s not overly sticky so you will be able to easily brush your hair out at the end of the day with ease.

Ice Roller $15.99

If you’ve been reading my blog and following on Instagram for a while now, you know my obsession with ice rolling. I have a full blog post about it HERE but in summary, you keep this little tool in the freezer and roll it on your face in the morning (or really anytime your skin needs a refresh). The benefits include promoting circulation and de-puffing - everyone needs one of these in their beauty tools collection.

Juvia’s Place Nubian Eye Shadow Palette $20

This has been my go-to eyeshadow palette over the last two years. The colors are super pigmented, blend beautifully, and I love that there is a mix of matte and shimmer shades. The palette is also compact enough for travel. I also just saw that they launched a mini version of the palette for $10 (which includes my three favorite shades from the original palette) so if you don’t want to commit to the full palette I would suggest that one.

Glossier Boy Brow $16

A tinted brow gel is an essential step in my brow routine, and this one is amazing. It adds color while keeping the hairs in place. Since it is tinted, it can be used in combination with a brow pencil, or on its own for a more natural look.

MAC Russian Red Lipstick $19

I can’t even tell you how many of these lipsticks I’ve gone through since high school - that’s how long this has been my go-to red lipstick. It’s extremely matte, yet doesn’t dry out the lips and is insanely pigmented. The only negative is it is not transfer proof, but that is ok with me since the color works so well with my skin tone and the color payoff is unreal.

Versed The Shortcut Overnight Facial $19.99

This is a new discovery of mine, but I thought I would go ahead and include it. This is a product that you apply after you wash your face at nighttime 2-3 times a week and don’t rinse off until the morning. It’s a chemical exfoliant formulated with glycolic acid, lactic acid, and vitamin A and when I have used this my skin feels smoother in the morning. If you have dry skin, I would not recommend this product as it is most effective on non-moisturized, but cleansed skin.

Rare Beauty Liquid Blush $20

Another new find that I am obsessed with. This is the only product I have tried from Rare Beauty (which is Selena Gomez’s makeup line) and I am SO impressed that I might have to pick up more shades in the future. This liquid blush is super pigmented (a little goes a LONG way) so I can see this product lasting me forever. I have the shade Bliss which is a neutral pink shade that dries down to a matte finish. For those who like a more dewey look they also have a formula that dries down glowy instead of matte.

What are your favorite beauty products under $20? And do we share any of the same favorites? Let me know! And be on the lookout for upcoming fall content.

Amazon Beauty Favorites

Hello loves! Recently I have gone down the YouTube rabbit hole of watching people’s Amazon favorites, so I thought it would be fun (and helpful) to do a roundp for y’all on the blog. Today I’m breaking down my 4 favorite beauty products from Amazon. All of the products mentioned are under $15 and have my stamp of approval. Let me know if I should break down my Amazon favorites in other categories as well.

Dry Brush

I got hooked onto dry brushing during quarantine, and this $9 tool gets the job done. Dry brushing is great for exfoliating the skin, promoting circulation, and waking up the lymphatic system. There are so many tutorials online on how to properly dry brush, but the one thing to keep in mind is to always brush towards your heart. I love dry brushing before I hop in the shower.

Acne Patches

For under $10, this is a great solution to spot treating zits. You simply stick these on the zit and leave them on for a minimum of 6 hours; I think it’s easiest and most effective to leave them on overnight.

Fanola No Yellow Shampoo

I purchased this based on my followers’ recommendations on Instagram. If you have blonde or highlighted hair a purple shampoo is a must - and this is the best one I’ve tried at the lowest cost. This shampoo is extremely pigmented, so I use it every other time, or every third time I wash my hair (and I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week). For $15 this can’t be beat!

Ice Roller

This is my favorite tool for de-puffing the skin. You keep it in the freezer to keep it cold (I use the stainless steel attachment for extra coldness) and roll it across your face. Not only does it feel amazing, but it de-puffs the skin and promoted circulation and I always see an immediate difference when I wake up and use this.

What are your favorite beauty finds from Amazon? I would love to try more!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Guide: Home + Beauty

Hello loves! It’s that time of year - the Nordstrom anniversary sale is here! Today is when the sale begins to open to Nordstrom cardholders; your cardholder status determines when you can shop the sale - HERE is where you can find out what date you can shop the sale. Since the sale doesn’t open to the public until August 19th, I am going to continue to update my blog posts to make sure they accurately reflect what is in stock.

If you do not have access to the sale until a later date, Nordstrom has a feature where you can add a product to your wishlist so you can easily access it when you are able to purchase.

I am going to separate my Nordstrom sale picks into categories: home and beauty, shoes, and apparel and accessories. In this post I am sharing my first guide, my home and beauty picks. I have used/owned many of these products. I break down my reason for picking each product below along with prices. I hope you find this info helpful!

Barefoot Dreams Blanket

This blanket is 100% worth the hype! I have the leopard version pictured above, but it also comes in a few different animal print combos, along with solid colors. Definitely add one of these to your home collection while they’re on sale.

BeautyBlender Set

Why buy one BeautyBlender for $20 when you can buy 2 for $35? This set also comes with a solid BeautyBlender soap which does an amazing job at removing makeup from a used blender.

Tula Set

If you want to try multiple Tula products at a lower price, I recommend this set! It includes a full size purifying cleanser, a full size face filter primer, a full size rose glow and get it balm, and 4 face reviving treatment pads. Read my Tula blog post to learn more about these products.

Hydro Flask w/ Straw Lid

This has been on my wish list forever, so maybe I will finally purchase this one during the sale. I have heard nothing but great things about Hydro Flasks and everyone highly recommends the straw lid which is normally an additional cost. This one retails for $32 (value at $50) and comes in a color that is exclusive to Nordstrom.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Set

I love the Charlotte Tilbury matte lipsticks, but I have yet to try the brand’s most popular color: pillow talk. This set is a $91 value for $68 and includes a full size pillow talk lipstick, a full size pillow talk lip liner, and a full size collagen lip bath which is supposed to plump the lips. This color combo is always raved about because it’s the perfect neutral pink.

Tassel Blanket

I purchased one of these blankets for my freshman year dorm room during the anniversary sale, and I still have it today in my NYC apartment. This is a super soft blanket and since it comes in 15 different colors there is something that will coordinate with everyone’s home decor.

Urban Decay All Nighter Spray Set

This is the absolute best setting spray and has been a staple in my makeup collection for years. For reference, the regular 4oz bottle retails for $33, while this set has an 8oz bottle and a travel size bottle for $42. Such a great deal if you know you are going to use this product regularly and want to stock up to save money.

Makeup Eraser Set

The makeup eraser is a magic cloth that removes makeup with nothing but water. Instead of one large makeup eraser, this set has 10 smaller cloths and a laundry bag for the cloths. This set retails for $30 and is a $50 value.

Nest Reed Diffuser Duo

My mom has these at home and they smell amazing! During the sale you can get two reed diffusers for $64 instead of $96. A great home fragrance alternative if you don’t want to mess with candles.

Let me know which products you are the most excited about!

Sulfur in Acne Products: Why you Should Try it and My Favorite Products

Hello loves! It’s been a minute since I’ve done a full blog post dedicated to skincare. A couple days ago I did an Instagram post about a face mask I’ve been loving by Lancer skincare. This inspired me to do a full post about this masks key acne fighting ingredient: sulfur. In my experience, sulfur is the ingredient that I have found to be the most effective for treating acne. I have been struggling with acne since middle school, and after trial and error with numerous over the counter and prescription acne products, I have found that my skin reacts the best to products with sulfur. Since I am not a skincare expert, I have linked a few articles below to provide more insight on this ingredient. If you haven’t seen results with ingredients such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, I definitely recommend reading these articles and looking into products with sulfur. Additionally, I have linked my 3 favorite products that contain sulfur at the end of this article.

Kate Somerville Blog Post

Medical News Today Post

Prevention.com Post

IMG_7780.JPG

Kate Somerville EradiKate Cleanser

This cleanser is just as good as a prescription sulfur cleanser I was on in high school, but at a fraction of the cost. Since I have oily skin I can handle using this cleanser morning and night, but if you are more on the combo/dry side I would recommend using at night only.

Kate Somerville Eradikate Spot Treatment

The only spot treatment I have in my collection. This is a drying lotion with 10% sulfur that dries up blemishes over night. You simply dip in a q-tip and apply to your spots before bed. It’s only $26 and lasts forever. I started using this a couple years ago and I’m only on my second bottle.

Lancer Skincare Clarifying Mask

My most recent sulfur discovery! This mask is from Dr. Lancer who works with celebrity clients such as Beyonce and Kim Kardashian. I have been using this mask 2-3 times a week and have seen a difference in my skin’s texture and the amount of breakouts I have. This mask also contains green tea which works to combat redness. It is expensive, but you only need a a thin layer to see results so it will last forever.

Let me know if you decide to purchase any of this products, or if you have any other sulfur products that I need to try!

Best,

Best Quarantine Beauty Discoveries

Hello loves! If you’ve been following along on Instagram, I’ve been trying a ton of new beauty products during the past three months that I’ve been home in Texas. Since I am going back to NYC next week, I thought it would be fun (and useful) to share my favorite beauty discoveries that I’ve made during quarantine with y’all. As always, you can click the pink links and the images to shop any of these products. Enjoy!

Lancer Clarifying Detox Mask

If y’all have read any of my skincare posts, you know that sulfur is my FAVORITE ingredient for treating acne (and acne scars). This mask has 3% sulfur and green tea, and does an amazing job at treating existing acne and acne scars.

Tarte Sea Surfer Curl Mascara

IMG_5342.jpg

This mascara is INCREDIBLE. The formula is vegan, cruelty free, and free of sulfates and parabens. I love how this mascara lengthens the lashes without clumping. I also don’t experience any flaking or smudging with this mascara. There’s an amazing deal going on right now where you can purchase 2 full sized tubes of this mascara for $29, whereas one tube retails for $23 alone.

Tula Sunscreen

I have always struggled to find a sunscreen that doesn’t break me out and also doesn’t give off a white cast. This sunscreen has everything that I could ever want in a sunscreen. It’s a gel formula with SPF 30 and since it’s formulated with pineapple, papaya, and antioxidants, it does wonders for your skin. If you’re looking for a non-greasy sunscreen, you NEED this. As always, you can receive 15% off all Tula purchases with code THECHANCHIC at check out.

IMG_5783.JPG

Versed Brightening Tightening Mask

IMG_4774.jpg

This is one of the best (if not the best) mask under $10 that I’ve ever tried. The key ingredients in this mask are tumeric and kaolin clay which help to brighten up the complexion along with smoothing the skin. This mask is also vegan and cruelty free and such high quality for the price.

KNC Beauty Retinol Eye Patches

These are a recent find, but they’re so good. Not only do they hydrate the under eye area and treat the area with retinol (an incredible ingredient for treating early signs of aging), but they are so chic. The gel patches have glitter throughout and shaped like shooting stars (so cute for Insta).

Let me know what your favorite beauty discovery during quarantine has been!

Sephora Spring Sale Picks

Hello loves! It’s the big event that only happens twice a year - the Sephora sale! The higher up you are in the Sephora loyalty program, the more money you save. I am currently at the VIB level, which gets 15% off almost everything during the sale. If you are at the rouge level you’ll receive 20% off and if you’re at the insider level you’ll receive 10% off with the code SPRINGSAVE. Below are my absolute favorite products from Sephora and why I love them. This is the perfect time to stock up on products you always use and need refills on, or to splurge on expensive products or tools that you’ve been holding off on. Let me know what you will be stocking up on during the sale!

Kate Somerville EradiKate Spot Treatment

I’ve spoken about this product so many times (HERE is my first blog post where I featured it) and it is my absolute favorite spot treatment. If you apply this right before bed, your blemish will be significantly smaller by morning.

Kate Somerville EradiKate Daily Foaming Cleanser

Y’all probably want me to shut up about this cleanser now. I use it morning and night and I will be stocking up on it during this sale.

DryBar Curling Iron

Anytime you’ve seen my hair curled since October 2018, it’s been because of this iron. I have the 1.25” size and I love how it’s easy to use and doesn’t damage the hair. I have a full blog post explaining how I use it HERE.

Triple Sec Texturizing Spray

Along with the curling iron, I finish off every curly hair look with this spray. It adds the most amazing natural looking texture to the hair, and even though it’s not a hair spray I think it helps to hold the waves in place.

Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation

This has been my go-to foundation for the last few months. It’s oil free, has a natural matte finish, and doesn’t break me out. It’s not cakey at all and can easily be built up.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

I have been using this bronzer since high school - it is the absolute best. It’s matte, not too orange, and will last you forever.

BeautyBlender

I have tried the drugstore dupes, but honestly nothing compares to the original. I love how this sponge allows you to effortlessly blend your foundation with no streaks.

Fenty Lip Gloss

One of the only lip glosses I actually enjoying using! It’s not sticky at all and can be layered over many different lipsticks (I use the shade Fenty Glow).

Foreo Luna 2

I use this tool every time I wash my face and I love how clean it leaves my skin. I have a full blog post about why I love this little guy HERE if you want to read an in depth review.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

The absolute best lip product to apply before bed. It leaves the lips feeling incredibly soft, but it is not a heavy or gloopy.

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder

I have been using this powder for over a year now and it is the best for setting makeup. It doesn’t look cakey and most importantly doesn’t break me out. It is pricey, but a little goes a long way (my first one lasted me a full year).

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

I finish off every single makeup look with this spray, and I can definitely tell a difference when I don’t use it. It locks in your makeup and ensures that it won’t melt off throughout the day.

Glam Glow Bright Eyes Eye Cream

This is my favorite eye cream from Sephora. It’s extremely hydrating, not overpriced, and doesn’t feel too heavy. You can definitely use this morning and night, and the rose gold packaging is a bonus!

Beauty Steals to Check out ASAP

Hello loves! There are so many great sales going on right now - including lots in the beauty realm. If you’ve wanted to try any new products, now is the perfect time to do it - not only because they’re on sale, but because you’ll have plenty of time to experiment with them! As always you can click on the images or pink links to shop these steals. Enjoy!

Jeffree Star Brushes

These are my current favorite makeup brushes! They’re soft, make it easy to blend makeup, and are super high quality for the price. The foundation brush is perfect for a non-streaky full coverage application and is only $8 right now. The eyeshadow brushes can be purchased as a set for $25 or individually.

Juvia’s Place Eyeshadow Palette

This is one of my fav everyday eyeshadow palettes and it's on sale for $12. The palette has mattes and shimmers, the shades are extremely pigmented, and since the palette is compact it’s perfect for travel.

Ardell Lashes

The only brand of false lashes I use! They add a bit of drama, without looking overly fake. My favorites are linked here (the 110 style) and I love applying them with Duo lash glue.

Glam Glow Bright Eyes Eye Cream

One of my favorite eye creams is currently $10 off (plus you can get an additional $10 off if you’re a first time shopper). This eye cream is extremely moisturizing and does not break me out. I like using this at night because it’s a bit thicker, but it can definitely be used in the morning too. Plus, the packaging looks super chic on your shelf.

Biore With Hazel Pore Strips

I’ve talked about these on my Instagram and they are by far the best pore strips on the market. They work the exact same as the traditional Biore pore strips, but are way more effective. They’re currently $5.50 instead of $8 for a pack of 6 strips.

Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm

This is my favorite product to remove makeup because it melts off my makeup without breaking me out. You can currently purchase a set with the full size, travel size, and cleansing cloth for $57 (less than regular price of the full size!!).

Glam Glow Super Mud Mask

This is a newer discovery for me, and I love the results I get. It is very drying so I only use it every once in a while, but it does an amazing job at clearing out the pores. I would stay away from this product if your skin is on the dry side, but if you’re oily/combo and acne prone, I would definitely recommend it. Both the small and full sizes are on sale.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara

I’ve been using this mascara for a few years and it is one of the best at the drugstore! It’s currently on promo for buy two for $15 - so if you’re a fan it’s time to stock up!

Kate Somerville EradiKate Set

Y’all know I love the Kate Somerville EradiKate line! You can currently get full sizes of the cleanser, mask, and spot treatment for only $58 (a $118 value!!!!!). If you don't want to commit to the full set, the individual products are on discount too (click the images below to see prices!!).

St. Moriz Tanning Mousse

This tanning mousse is comparable to Loving Tan, but a fraction of the price. I started using this at the beginning of college and have a blog post talking about it HERE. A bottle will only set you back $9 right now and will get you numerous gorgeous at-home tans.

Let me know if you add any of these products to your collection! Hope you all are staying safe and healthy!

Morning Skincare Routine: Oily/Combo/Acne Prone Skin

Hello loves! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Last week on TikTok I posted a video of my morning skincare routine, so I thought I would go into more detail here on the blog. In January I posted my nighttime skincare routine, but I haven’t shared what I do in the morning yet. In the morning I like to keep things light since most of the time I apply makeup afterwards. As I mentioned in my last skincare post, I I have oily/combo acne prone skin. I hope you enjoy my morning routine!

PS - now I have a Tula promo code for y’all! Use code THECHANCHIC at checkout for 15% off Tula products.

IMG_2989.JPG

Cleanser

For my first step I use my tried and true Kate Somerville EradiKate Daily Foaming Cleanser. I’ve talked about this SO many times on the blog and Instagram, but it’s the best cleanser for acne prone skin that I have tried that isn’t a prescription from the dermatologist. I also found a promo code - save 30% with BUZZFAM30 at checkout. The active ingredient in this cleanser is sulfur, which my skin reacts really well to.

IMG_2983.JPG

To make sure I’m thoroughly cleansing my skin, I use my Foreo Luna 2. This tool does a great job at deeply cleansing the skin; additionally, it helps to prevent signs of aging. Since it’s not a brush head, it’s more hygienic than other cleansing tools on the market.

Serum

After cleansing I apply the Tula Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel all over the face. This gel is formulated with salicylic acid and treats current breakouts and acne scars while also preventing new ones. What I love about this product is how it can be applied all over the face (rather than a spot treatment) and works to smooth the entire face’s texture. P.S. the packaging has changed since I bought my last bottle so don’t worry - I linked the correct product.

IMG_2984.JPG

Eye Cream

For my morning eye cream I have been using the Rodan + Fields Redfine Multi Function Eye Cream. I like this eye cream for the morning because it’s moisturizing, yet lightweight so it layers under makeup nicely. It’s important to keep the underage area moisturized to prevent early signs of aging.

IMG_2985.JPG

Moisturizer

The last step in my morning skincare routine is moisturizer. In the morning I use another product that I’ve spoken about numerous times: the Tula Oil Free Gel Cream. This is the absolute best moisturizer for oily skin. It’s water based, lightweight, yet incredibly moisturizing. I don’t even know how many bottles of this product I’ve gone through - it’s THAT good.

IMG_2987.JPG

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you add any of these products to your one skincare routine.

Is Tula Worth the Hype? Reviewing & Ranking 13 Tula Products

Hello loves! Skincare is something that I have increasingly more passionate about, and I love sharing my favorite products and tips and tricks with y’all (especially over on my Instagram). Tula is a brand that I love, but since this is a brand that heavily relies on influencer marketing, people are skeptical if the products are as good as they seem. I purchased my first Tula product over a year ago and have spent much of my own money on their products. As of April 2020 I do have a code with Tula, but I was a huge fan of the brand before having a code with them. If you want to try any of the products I mentioned below, use code THECHANCHIC at checkout to save 15%.

In today’s post I’m ranking all 13 Tula products that I have tried and breaking down what I like about each product. As a disclaimer, I haven’t tried a Tula product that I’ve absolutely disliked, but there are definitely products that are better than others. For reference, I have sensitive, combo-oily, acne prone skin, so keep that in mind when reading my rankings.

IMG_0200.JPG

1. Oil Free Gel Cream

If you’re a loyal follower, you KNEW this was going to be number 1. This retails for $48 and I think I’m on my 4th bottle; it’s 100$ worth it. If you have oily skin, this is the moisturizer for you since it is oil free. It’s lightweight, but that doesn’t mean it’s incredibly hydrating. Add this to your routine if you’re looking for a drink of water for your skin.

2. 24/7 Hydrating Day and Night Cream

If your skin is more on the dry side, this is the moisturizer for you. This has been my go-to nighttime moisturizer over the last couple months, my skin has become more dry during the NYC winter. This is heavier than the gel cream, yet it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. This product was key in treating the dry patches I developed from the NYC cold. The cream is nourishing, yet doesn’t clog the ores and is gentle enough to use both day and night.

3. Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel

Not only does this product treat zits and prevent new ones, it does an amazing job at correcting acne scars. At $36 this product is a great value and does a lot more for my acne than some prescription creams and gels did. I didn’t have a new bottle for about a month and a half, and I definitely noticed a difference in my skin. This is one of the products that I have purchased multiple times with my own money from Tula and will continue to do so. P.S. Tula updated the packaging of this product since I purchased mine, which is why mine looks different than the one on the site - same product though!

4. Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer

This primer is truly like a filter for the skin. It is a great base for makeup, but also is perfect to use on its own on no makeup days to smooth the skin’s texture. It’s free from mineral oil, paragons, and sulfates, and adds a beautiful glow to the skin. This is my first bottle of this primer but I will definitely be purchasing another one (my mom loves this primer as well!).

5. Brightening Treatment Drops Triple Vitamin C Serum (added April 2021)

I have been wanting to try this product ever since it launched and I am so glad I finally got my hands on it. I’ve been testing it out for a few months and this is one of Tula’s best.

6. Protect + Glow Daily Sunscreen (added May 2020)

I have already been using this a ton and it’s my new go-to sunscreen.

7. Rose Brightening Eye Balm (added May 2020)

See my full review of the OG brightening eye balm below but I prefer the rose one more. Something about the slight pink tint and the pink packaging that just speaks to me!

8. Brightening Eye Balm Stick

The reason that this product is not higher on my list is because it’s not a necessity in my daily routine. I do love it though and use it multiple times a week.

9. Pro-Glycolic 10% Resurfacing Toner (added May 2020)

I added glycolic acid to my routine back in September, and my skin responds really well to it. I love this toner because it has 10% glycolic acid, it’s an easy to use, lightweight, gel formula. Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, treats acne scars, and combats early signs of aging. This toner is gentle enough to use twice a day, but I prefer to only use it at night since I use my acne toning solution in the morning.

10. Nourishing & Brightening Cosmic Hydrogel Mask

If you love one time use masks and need to give your skin some hydration, this is the mask for you. I love using this when my skin is feeling dry and tired and since it’s a sheet mask (or a gel mask I should say) it’s easy and hassle free to use. This mask also has little stars on it, which is a fun touch if you want to feel cute while you mask.

11. So Polished Exfoliating Sugar Scrub

TBH, this is the only sugar scrub I’ve ever used so I don’t have anything to compare it to. This is a grainy scrub, but the pieces are super fine so it’s gentle on the skin. My favorite part about this product is that it smells like a pina colada (it’s formulated with pineapple and papaya). I have this product towards the bottom of my list because it’s not a necessity in my routine, but if you enjoy scrubs you should check it out.

12. Purifying Cleanser

This cleanser didn’t break me out or anything, I just didn’t notice anything different in my skin when using it. This is a gentle cleanser that is great for sensitive skin, but I think you could just go purchase some Cetaphil from the drugstore and get the same effect. I prefer a cleanser with an active ingredient such as the Kate Somerville EradiKate Cleanser.

12. Instant De-Puff Eye Renewal Serum

I’ve have been using this as my morning eye cream for the last month or so. I like that it’s lightweight, looks great under makeup, and the metal applicator has a nice cooling effect. The reason that this product is lower on my list is because 1. it’s the most expensive Tula product I have and 2. I don’t notice a difference in my undeye circles.

13. Brighten Up Smoothing Primer Gel (added May 2020)

I have only tried this a few times because I borrowed it from my mom - but there is a reason I haven’t purchased one of these myself and the face filter primer is ranked way higher on this list. This product is just lack luster compared to the face filter primer. It has the same consistency as vaseline, can’t be used on its own like the face filter primer (under makeup only) and doesn’t really brighten the skin. For the same price just buy the face filter primer - it’s 100% better.

14. Glow Hour Eye Balm (added April 2021)

If you want to try out an eye balm - definitely stick to the original or the rose. The Golden Hour eye balm is less product for more $$ compared to the other two, and I personally don’t think the gold tone is as flattering.

Nighttime Skincare Routine: Oily Combo Skin

Hello loves! Although I’ve been talking lots about skincare on my Instagram stories over the last few months, I realized I have not done a skincare routine blog post since February of last year. I’ve changed up some of the products I’ve been using and added a few more steps to my routine. Today I’m specifically talking about my nighttime skincare routine - which has more products and steps than my morning routine. Let me know if you want to see a morning skincare routine blog post as well.

IMG_8641.JPG

Cleanser

For cleanser I am still using my tried and true Kate Somerville EradiKate Cleanser. I sound like a broken record, but this cleanser works just as well as my prescription sulfur based cleanser that I was on in high school. To make sure my face gets extra clean, I massage in my cleanser with my Foreo Luna 2.

IMG_8639.JPG

Toner

Over the last couple months I’ve been using the Glycolic Acid Toning Treatment from The Ordinary. Glycolic acid is great for exfoliating the skin and treating signs of aging. This toner works extremely well, but since it is so potent the instructions say to only use it once at day in the PM.

IMG_8638.JPG

Serum

After toning I go in with vitamin C serum. Although it’s hard to see the immediate benefits of vitamin C, it’s great for preventing signs of aging in the long run. I use this one from The Ordinary and I love it because it’s super affordable.

IMG_8635 2.JPG

Eye Cream

At nighttime I am all about moisturizing since there is time for product to fully sink into the skin. Over the last couple months I’ve been using the Glam Glow Bright Eyes eye cream. I have used this product in the morning and evening, but I prefer to use it in the evening since it is a little bit thicker and my skin is more on the oily side. This eye cream is a great price for being so high quality, doesn’t irritate my skin or eyes, and leaves the area filling refreshed.

IMG_8637.JPG

Moisturizer

Since moving to New York and living in a city that experiences a harsher winter than what I am used to, certain areas of my skin have become more dry. Lately I’ve stepped up my nighttime moisturizing game with the Tula 24/7 Hydrating Day and Night Cream. This cream nourishes the skin, yet it doesn’t feel heavy and greasy like other thicker moisturizers I have tried in the past. If you have combo/dry skin you can totally use this moisturizer twice a day, but if you’re oily like me with a few dry spots I recommend using it nightly.

IMG_8636.JPG

Spot Treatment

This isn’t an everyday step, but if I have blemishes I spot treat them before I go to bed. My two favorite products to use are the Kate Somerville EradiKate treatment and these nifty acne patches. Like the cleanser I use, the active ingredient in the Kate Somerville treatment is sulfur, which my skin responds extremely well to. The cleanser is 3% sulfur while the treatment contains 10%. I immediately notice a difference overnight when I use this. If I don’t want to mess with the treatment, I’ll stick on an acne patch before I go to sleep. These babies are under $10 on Amazon and do an amazing job sucking gunk from a zit.

I hope you enjoyed this deep dive into my nighttime skincare routine. Let me know fi you want to see a full post over my morning skincare routine.

Best Beauty Discoveries of 2019

Hello loves! Welcome to the third post of twelve days of Chan-mas. Today I’m breaking down my favorite beauty finds of 2019. While there were some flops this year, I discovered 9 products that are amazing and I will continue to use going into 2020. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products!

Tula Oil Free Gel Cream

If you’re following on Instagram - you know how obsessed I am with this product. I love using this as a daily moisturizer because it hydrates the skin without being too heavy. If you have combo/oily skin I recommend this product since it is oil free.

Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm

I had never tried a cleansing balm before this one, and now I understand the hype. This product easily removes all makeup without leaving the skin feeling greasy.

Jeffree Star x Morphe Brushes

These makeup brushes are so soft and high quality, yet are super affordable. They are also the most aesthetically pleasing makeup brushes that I have ever used. These brushes can be purchased individually or in sets (I have both the face and eye combo set and the eyes only set).

ColourPop Lipstick in Lay Over

This is the perfect nude lipstick and I am so glad I discovered it this year. The lipstick is matte, not drying, pigmented, and only costs $7. I also love the shade LA Lady for a more bold look, but Lay Over is perfect for when you want a nude lip.

Glossier Vinylic in Baby

No Glossier product will ever top boy brow in my books, but this comes pretty close. It’s a liquid lip that is not long wearing, but has incredible shine. I love the push up applicator - it’s super easy to apply.

Laura Mercier Setting Powder

Although this setting powder is on the pricey side, it is 100% worth it. It doesn’t break me out, keeps my face matte, and a little goes a long way (my original jar lasted almost a year).

Jeffree Star x Morphe Sponges

Not only are the JSxMorphe brushes a hit with me, but so were the sponges. Not only are they soft and seamlessly blend makeup, but the sharp edge makes it easy to blend makeup in tricky areas like the nose.

IGK Mixed Feelings Leave in Drops

If you highlight or bleach your hair, you need to try this product. It brightens up blonde hair and keeps your color from getting brassy (and it truly makes a difference!). My favorite way to use this product is by mixing it in with a leave in conditioner and apply it on wet hair.

ELF Brow Pencil

I discovered this product in July when the makeup artist for my friend Anna’s wedding used it on me. The thick tip allows you to quickly fill in the brows, while still allowing precision. The best part is - it’s only $2.

What was your favorite beauty discovery this year? I can’t wait to test out more products in 2020!

Best Beauty Finds Under $10

Hello loves! I know that beauty products can be expensive, but there are so many great products on the market that don’t break the bank. As I was going through my collection, I realized I love a lot of products that are under $10 - and that’s what I am sharing with you today.

Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlight

This highlight comes in at $9, and a little goes a very long way. I reach for this product when I am in the mood for an extra glowy and dewey look. This product comes in multiple colors, but luminous gold is the one I have - it’s the perfect neutral highlight shade.

IMG_3457.JPG

Neutrogena Hydro Gel Mask

This is the best face mask that I have found at the drugstore. The masks are sold individually at the drugstore for and $2.99 each, but I found a 12 pack HERE for $28. This mask is similar to a sheet mask, but instead of a traditional sheet, it’s a gel material. You simply unwrap the mask, place it on your face, and let the goodness soak in for 15-30 minutes. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid, so it does an amazing job at hydrating the skin.

 Morphe Liquid Lipstick

This lipstick retails for $10, and is the same quality as my Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipsticks. It’s easy to apply, long lasting, and does not dry out the lips. I own the shade jealousy which is the perfect mauve shade. I want to add more shades to my collection!

IMG_3456.JPG

ELF Brow Pencil

I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to my L’Oreal brow pencil because this one works great and is only $2. I discovered this product when I was in my friend’s wedding; this is what the makeup artist used on my brows. I love that it comes with a spooly and is a twist up pencil. I use the shade taupe.

Acne Patches

I talked about these in my summer beauty favorites post, but one of the reasons I love them so much is that they’re only $8 for a pack of 40 patches. You simply stick on a patch over a zit before you go to bed and when you wake up the next morning your zit will be significantly smaller. I’ve tried so many acne products over the years, and this is one of the ones that truly work.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what your favorite beauty product under $10 is.

Summer 2019 Beauty Favorites

Hello loves! With all the chaos that comes along with graduating college, moving across the country, and starting a new job, I haven’t posted a beauty favorites post since the beginning of May (which is weird for me since I normally post them once a month). I have been loving some new products as of late, so I thought I would hop on here and tell y’all why I love them. As always, feel free to click the photos or the links to shop these products.

IGK Toning Drops

I have been using this since April or May, but I can’t believe I am just now talking about it here! These are drops that can be added to any shampoo, conditioner, or leave in treatment to help tone and brighten up blonde hair. Since I have naturally brunette hair, I need all the help I can get to keep my blonde looking bright. I definitely notice a difference when I use these drops. My favorite way to use these is to mix 2-3 drops into a bit of deep conditioner, and leave it in my wet hair for 5 minutes or so before rinsing. You NEED these if you highlight your hair.

Acne Patches

True story - I bought these because they were featured in a BuzzFeed article … and I’m so glad I did because they actually do work. These are little stickers that you stick on your zits, and they soak up the nasty part of your zit. After a few hours (I leave mine on overnight) your pimple will be a lot flatter than it was before. And if you’re gross like me and like seeing what came out of your skin, you can see what the patch soaked up when you remove it. The best part is, they’re under $10 too.

Acne Tone Correcting Gel

If you struggle with acne and/or acne scarring, you need to pick up this gel. It’s formulated with salicylic acid and works to prevent new breakouts and smooth out uneven texture caused by acne. I have truly seen a major difference in my skin’s overall texture when I use this product; my skin looks the smoothest it’s ever looked. I use this 1-2 times a day after I wash and tone my face, but before I apply moisturizer.

Colourpop Lipstick in Lay Over

This lipstick is creamy, pigmented, and only $7.50! It’s the perfect nude shade that is perfect for everyday wear. I also love how there are little stars embossed in the side of the actual lipstick - such a fun touch. If you’re in need of a new “your lip color but better shade” you have to add this to your collection.

I hope you found this post helpful. Let me know if you like this new photo format as well! See y’all in the next post.

My Go To Relaxation Routine After a Long Week

This post has been sponsored by Jergens Skincare. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hello loves! If you’ve been following my blog and Instagram for a while now, you would know I am a huge fan of a nice and relaxing nighttime routine. Now that I work a traditional 9-5 job in one of the busiest cities in the world, having a solid relaxation routine is absolutely essential. In today’s post I wanted to walk y’all through what a typical weekend nighttime routine looks like for me after a long work week.

IMG_5846.jpeg

When my goal is to relax and prepare for a good night’s sleep, I love using products that contain lavender. Lately I’ve been incorporating the Jergens Body Butter with Calming Lavender Essential Oil into my routine. Lavender has calming properties, which is why it’s my favorite for a relaxing nighttime routine. Lavender can also promote a good night’s sleep - another reason why it’s perfect to use before bedtime. The Jergens Lavender Body Butter is conveniently available on Amazon if you want to incorporate it into your routine. Keep reading to see why I love this body butter so much.

IMG_2227.JPG

The first step in my nighttime routine is to take a bubble bath. I absolutely love taking bubble baths and getting my bubbles from a lavender bubble bath helps me to destress and relax. Also, if you don’t have a bathtub shelf, you NEED to purchase one. You can easily have a drink, be on your phone, and read a book, all while in the bath and without getting anything wet.

After my bath comes moisturizing. This is when I use the Jergens lavender body butter. Moisturizing is key after taking a bath because the water dries out your skin. Besides the fact that it is formulated with lavender, I love that the Jergens Body Butter contains shea, cocoa, and mango butters. This body butter leaves my skin feeling amazing and the lingering lavender scent helps me to continue to relax and prepare for bed.

IMG_9397.jpeg

Once my body is prepared, I move onto my skincare routine. On top of my normal nighttime skincare routine, I love doing a face mask to give my skin some extra love . Lately my go-to has been a foaming mask, but I never say no to a good sheet mask.

I hope you enjoyed this post of my relaxing nighttime routine! Be sure to check out the Jergens Lavender Body Butter on Amazon, and let me know if you purchase it and try it out!
