How I Get My Everyday Soft Waves

Hello loves! I hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend.  Over the last couple of months I've switched up how I've been styling my hair.  Instead of big voluminous curls, I've opted for more soft waves. In today's post I'm going to walk you through my process and share what products I use to achieve the look. I attached a short video of the process below for all of you visual learners out there (like me!).

To protect my hair from the heat, I use the L'Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Sleek Spray. I spray this throughout my hair then brush it out to distributed the product. I love the fine mist of this product because it doesn't weigh down my hair, but it still protects. I then separate my hair into sections for the curling process.

I use the NuMe 1" Magic Curling Wand  to achieve the perfect soft waves. I go layer-by-layer and curl 1-inch sections away from my face. This curling iron is extremely versatile: you can get super tight curls or loose waves. I hold the hair on the wand for only about 5 seconds to achieve the loose wave look. The key to getting a wave as opposed to a curl is to hold out the ends of the hair instead of wrapping them around the wand.

After I've curled all of my hair I spray the DryBar Triple Sec 3-in-1 Spray throughout my hair. I then flip my head over and run my fingers through the waves to shake them out. Flipping my head over also helps to add volume.

To further smooth out the waves I apply the Verb Ghost Oil. This lightweight oil tames my frizz and gives my waves a gorgeous shine.

Once I'm content with the finger-brushed waves, I finish off the look with my favorite hairspray: L'Oreal Elnett. I love this hairspray because it locks in my waves without making my hair feel dry and crunchy.

Best of Beauty: 2017

Hello loves! With the new year quickly approaching, I thought it would be appropriate to share my favorite beauty products that I discovered in 2017. As always, this post is shoppable, so feel free to click on the image if you like something!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

This was the only new face product discovery for me this year, and it's an absolute game changer. It's incredibly full coverage and is great for brightening the face, as well as concealing dark circles and blemishes.

MAC Liptensity Lipstick in Smoked Almond

This is the perfect pinky-nude shade and is great for daytime and night. The liptensity formula is super pigmented and long wearing.

L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Shampoo & Conditioner

I actually discovered this shampoo and conditioner while in Paris because I ran out of the kind I brought with me...and they sell it back here in the states at the drugstore! It's designed for people with oily roots and dry ends (which is the category I fall into) and does a great job at cleansing and moisturizing the hair.

Glossier Boy Brow

I love this product so much! On days when I wear full makeup, I use it to top off my brows to keep everything in place. When I'm not wearing a full face of makeup, I'll apply this by itself and it helps to make me look more put together.

Morphe 35O Palette

I purchased this palette back in October (s/o to the Ulta birthday month discount!) and have been using it almost everyday since. It has a wide variety of shades and can be used for everyday natural looks, or more dramatic night out looks.

L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara

This is a recent discovery for me, but this is one of the best mascaras I've ever tried...and it can be purchased at the drugstore! It lengthens the lashes while not smearing throughout the day, which is everything I want in a mascara.

Bed Head Dumb Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo

This year my hair has been the lightest that it's ever been, and my colorist recommended that I use a purple shampoo to keep the blonde light and not brassy. I use this shampoo every other time I wash my hair and it really does help to extend my color.

Chanel No. 5 Eau De Parfum

This is one of the world's most iconic scents, and I finally got my hands on a bottle this year! It's an amazing smelling perfume and was my favorite scent to wear this year.

Verb Ghost Oil

I loved getting to work the Verb this past year! Their ghost oil is my favorite product; I use it after I curl my hair to smooth it out and seal in fly-aways.

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in Hepburn Honey

This is my new favorite nude lipstick. The formula is super creamy and long wearing and goes great with a variety of makeup looks.

I hope you enjoyed this post and here's to discovering more new beauty products in 2018!
